This blog has a tri-fold purpose (all tied up in its main purpose: that God might be glorified):
One, it's meant to be a place of fun and learning for my youngest sons, and for other very young men, as they make the journey from boys into godly young manhood; to this end, cute and fun stuff (via videos, links for safe games on-line, poems my youngest sons love, etc.) will abound. : )
Two, it's meant to place before my boys (and other Mama's sons) godly instruction, ideals, teachings and goals that will help them to understand God's glory and holiness and, along with that, to comprehend the kind of men, husbands and fathers that God demands that they be; to this end, biblical sermons, articles on godly manhood (or dealing with issues that young men need to understand: preparing to be a leader, what manhood is, preparing to be a husband/father), quotations and poems that give the call to virtue will make regular appearance. These are things I have used, or am in the process of using, with my sons (sometimes with these two young ones and sometimes with my older sons).
Three, it is meant as a tool in the hands of godly Mamas, some of whom may not have a husband able or willing to help guide their sons into godly manhood; I have faced that situation so much of what I post on here are things that have helped me and, I pray, will help you, too.
May God be honored. Soli Deo gloria!
Psalms 127: 3-5
Psalms 127: 3-5, "Lo, sons are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."
1 Timothy 4: 12
"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." - 1 Timothy 4: 12
"The world cries for men who are strong--strong in conviction, strong to lead, to stand, to suffer. I pray that you will be that kind of man--glad that God made you a man, glad to shoulder the burden of manliness in a time when to do so will often bring contempt." ~ Elisabeth Elliot, Mark of a Man
